2025 trade package #14: My Sports Obsession

It took a bit after the clock finally hit zeroes for me to be able to function normally again, but now that I'm done enjoying Michigan's third victory of the season (over Nebraska), I can spend a bit of time on another trade post.

July package #2 arrived courtesy of fellow Michigan fan Jeff of My Sports Obsession. As he's done in the past, he sent me a straight-up BOX stuffed with cards, and so many of them were new that I decided to save myself a bit of effort by not scanning the dupes.

There's a ton of great content from the top three major US sports, so let's get into it:

Scan #1 includes Tigers favorites Miggy and Big Daddy, with the latter being represented on some very cool oddballs, two of which are playing cards. The highlight for me, though, is the quartet of Cronenworths. I still love that Jeff and I take turns bolstering each other's PC of the Michigan alum, and this time he sent me some great looking items, two of which are nice parallels. We're currently the #s 3 and 4 collectors of Cronenworth on TCDb, by the way.

Scan #2 begins with two more Fielder cards including another fun oddball. A guy who hit 300+ HR including 258 over a seven-year span of 1990-96 most definitely has the power to hang in a set made in conjunction with Duracell. A single Griffey, featuring what appears to be Junior in an older style Mariners uni, gives way to a nice little bunch of Gwynns, with an oddball and some Stadium Club beauties in the mix. The latter applies to another of our shared PC guys in Barry Larkin, and that card brings back great memories of watching him play, plus the original Stadium Club Chrome products. 2021 2nd-round IF Izaac Pacheco provided some nice pop for the Midwest League champion West Michigan Whitecaps as he works his way through Detroit's system.

Oh hey, it's another one of the players Jeff and I both PC--Cal Ripken Jr.! He's the #1 guy whose cards we send back and forth and #1 in my collection (second to Frank Thomas in his). Topps Chrome Platinum and Stadium Club Chrome both have pleasing designs. The less I say about Tork's team and their division lead-choking ways right now, the better, though I do appreciate getting his cards. And including the next scan, you get to see 11 Many Verlanders that Jeff sent my way, with some nice looking Topps designs leading the way.

See? Even more Verlanders! Even a card of him with his latest team, the Giants, who've all of a sudden helped lead him to the fountain of youth, apparently. It would be awesome if he felt like pitching next season.

He's joined by another Tigers Topps parallel like in the first scan, plus a pair of interesting 80s issues: a Fleer Mini of catcher Matt Nokes, and a 7-11 coin of HOFer Jack Morris. Sweet!

I'll say it until I'm blue (and maize?) in the face, but thank you to those who send me Michigan Basketball cards I don't have so I can spend my money on the sports I prefer! Jeff sent me a couple recent-ish stars in LeVert and Franz Wagner, the latter of which is, appropriately enough, blue!

On the football side of things, my collection of transfer RB Zach Charbonnet (UCLA) got a nice little three-card boost that included a RC and cool multi-color die-cut of the same. Stud WR Nico Collins pops up once, as does former UM coach and current Chargers leader Jim Harbaugh. Buckeye-killers Haskins and Hutch join in the fun in airbrushed form thanks to Wild Card Matte.

Hutch has been pretty quiet early this season, though I'll attribute some of that to rust after an injury derailed what was going to be a special 2024 season for him. Jenkins is in his second season with Cincy and hopefully will improve on his 3.0 sacks from last year while I continue to chase his RCs like the ones above. Law is a deserving HOFer and I'm glad he continues to appear in lots of post-career products just like Charles Woodson. Former blog namesake Manningham is another guy who comes up pretty often despite his relatively short career, likely due to helping Eli Manning's gumpy ass win a Super Bowl. The SAGE card above is my first of UM DB Rod Moore, a guy who made some big plays for the '23-'24 champs, then was out all of last season and the start of this one. Ojabo's another example of what you get with the current "Wild Card" name these days. And I love adding to my collection of the championship team's defensive MVP, Mike Sainristil, who's been solid in the league so far.

This last scan begins with a couple more RCs in a post stuffed with them. Mazi hasn't lived up to his college and draft hype but was fun as an amateur, and Wilson was even more of a blast as a high-scoring WR for the '23 champs, though he's been slow to get going in the NFL due to injuries.

Last up we have a group of seven cards of players Jeff sent that I'll hold onto but won't count towards those players' collections as they're pictured in other college unis. First is a quartet of TE Erick All, who bailed for offensively-challenged Iowa and made room for Colston Loveland to be a star in Ann Arbor. Charbonnet, as I mentioned, headed out west to UCLA and put up good enough numbers to get himself drafted by Seattle, where he's made some nice plays. And WR/KR AJ Henning remained in the conference like All, heading to Northwestern where he put up some solid numbers with the benefit of more playing time he might not have received in Ann Arbor.

Jeff, thanks a ton for this generous box of stuff that really had a nice effect on a bunch of my favorite collections! I need to start a new stack for you since sending that last one but I'm looking forward to treating you to some Wolverines while we celebrate our team's 3-1 start. GO BLUE!

2025 trade package #12: Sport Card Collectors

Tonight's trade package cards came from the lone blogger envelope(s) I received in June, and none other than Matt of the Sport Card Collectors family of blogs. (Don't worry about me being starved for cards--July ended up being a doozy!) As summer kicked off he sent me a nice little bunch of Tigers and Wolverines:

Who knew back in Spring Training that Riley would be an All-Star? It's no surprise that he continues to make highlight reel plays night after night, though! Jobe's unfortunately on the shelf due to the dreaded TJ surgery, but he's certainly earned his Rated Rookie logo. I believe Keith's '25 Topps parallel above is called "Silver Crackle Foilboard," not that I'd have any clue if I couldn't look it up somewhere. The number of parallels is too damn high!

Moving to the second row, Mize no longer pitches for the Erie Seawolves (or Moon Mammoths, if you prefer, thanks to the wonderful John Oliver), but that's because he's 10-4 for the Motor City Kitties this season! Olson ('25 Topps Holo Foil, apparently? I dunno, I see that and want to call it Sand Glitter, another parallel offering) is also on the shelf for at least the rest of the regular season, but he has an outside shot at a return for the playoffs. Perez (2020 Bowman Chrome Prospects Refractors) was supposed to be the centerpiece in the Verlander-to-the-Astros trade, but that didn't work out--JV's still pitching and Perez hasn't pitched in '25 that I can see.

The last regular sized card is a '24 Topps Update Gold (#d /2024) of short term Tiger Gio Urshela, who appeared in just under 100 games with the 2024 Tigers and then was released. There may be way too many parallels but Topps's Gold is still a solid yearly offering. And last up is a '21 Ginter A&G Back Mini of Daz Cameron, another promising young player that came over in the Verlander trade but didn't work out. He's still active, at least, having caught on with the A's in '24 and Milwaukee this season.

As we head over to the gridiron I'm reminded that Michigan kicks off its season in just three weeks! Unfortunately it's a night game, but whatever. Anyway, the cards Matt sent are a nice lead-in to the season.

From last year's Prestige product he sent me two of Michigan's best recent defenders. Hutch is of course very well known by now, and meanwhile DL Kris Jenkins will head into his sophomore NFL campaign with the Bengals.As with most draftees of the past five-plus years, I still need a lot of the latter's RCs like the one above (not to mention Hutchinson's!).

The second row is even more colorful. First up is a '24 Prizm Draft Red Ice parallel of Michigan DB and NFL HOFer Ty Law. While it's not a color match card, the shade of red plus ice pattern look terrific together, along with a great college action shot. And speaking of colors not matching on a card that still looks great, how about a 2022 Bowman U Chrome Pink Refractor of QB Cade McNamara, a guy who managed to beat OSU before heading off to browner pastures in Iowa?

Matt, thanks again for these fun Tigers and Wolverines additions! I haven't picked up much for you since the last package I sent, but I'm sure before long I'll have another mailer's worth of Giants and 90s inserts to send out east for your enjoyment.

I've got a few ideas for my next post but haven't decided what it'll be just yet--June's show, my eBay pickups from the first half of '25, or a quick recap of some TCDb deals from earlier this year. Either way, you'll see all three of those at some point in the next week or two, so stay tuned for those!

2024 trade package #1: My Sports Obsession

Ok, I'm finally caught up on 2023 so let's look at new cards that joined my collections in 2024. To begin with, we'll go with a trade package I received way back in early January. Jeff of My Sports Obsession hit my mailbox with this mailer not too long before we met up in Kalamazoo for a show he and his cousin were doing (details in a future post). It was stuffed with Tigers, some of my favorite bigger PCs, a few Wolverines, and more!

Here's what trade package #1 of 2024 contained for me:

Baddoo started out hot and has actually had what I'd call above-average success for a rule 5 pick, put right now he's playing for a pretty stacked AAA squad in Toledo. Jeff also really boosted my collection of el Mago, and even cooler, everything has him in a Tigers uniform. His tenure in Detroit has been less than ideal and we'll find out eventually if he's one of the guys that gets booted out of my Tigers box, but for now, I appreciate the thought while I wait to see if he can still bring anything to the team.

I wasn't joking about the Baez boost! I also really appreciate the trio of chrome-y Cabreras. As a reminder, the Tigers legend played 16 of his 21 MLB seasons in Motown, so this is the first year since 2007 that fans won't see him at the plate wearing the olde English "D." Switching teams (and fandoms, over to Michigan), Cronenworth is a guy both Jeff and I collect, and I love having more than 100 cards of the St. Clair, Michigan product. After scuffling a bit last season he's had a pretty decent start for the Padres in '24, and I hope he can get his numbers back up to their All-Star levels of '21 and '22.

Speaking of scuffling a bit, Greene's bat could use a wake-up call, but he's far from the only Tiger you could say that about right now. At least he's still out there making highlight reel plays in left, and I know his bat will warm up as we (eventually) say goodbye to the snow. Jeff also treated me to some cool items of the first two guys in my big PC quartet, Griffey and Gwynn. Ginter and Topps Chrome Platinum pop up quite a bit in this post and I'm guessing he was generously thinking of me while sorting through card shop boxes as he does.

After a couple more Gwynn items we go back to a Wolverine in Hill. I can't tell you how many copies of that card I've received through blogger and TCDb trades but it's up there! Kaline and Kell are forever linked in my mind as Tigers legends and broadcasters so it's only natural they get paired up here. Another common collection for Jeff and me is Larkin, who also gets the multi-Chrome treatment on a cool pair. Maddux is the third of the "big four" PC guys and there's even more of him in the next scan! He also appears on a TCP card here and another in the next scan, plus one of the others below depicts him as a youngster with the Cubs.

Right down the middle here we have a cool present/near-ish past/distant past trio of Tigers pitchers. Mize looked a bit rusty in his first MLB game since '22, but the Tigers picked him up against the hapless Mets. Morris and Newhouser are both here courtesy of, yep, TCP! I don't know if Mize will join them in the Hall but he's one of a few talented hurlers the Tigers employ who could get there someday. I believe Cal is our final shared baseball PC guy of the post and was happy to see the fourth of the "big four" as I always am. And how about one more TCP for the road, Ted "Simba" Simmons? He's another ex-Wolverine for whom I've piled up 100+ cards since I started collecting him.

The baseball portion closes out with five many Verlanders, whose PC count continues to climb thanks to trades like this one. The Finest Throwbacks card is interesting to me because I'm such a fan of the '96 set it's honoring, though the border color is all wrong for bronze or gold. Either way, it's fun to get more cards of him as a Met considering his 16 game tenure with them last year, not unlike Mike Piazza's famous five games with the '98 Marlins before being flipped to, oddly enough, the Mets!

Flipping over to football, it's taken me a while to get my first UM or NFL card of transfer RB Zach Charbonnet (I just got one at a show this past weekend), but I'm hold onto others folks send me all the same, just not counting them towards his collection. Heisman winner Desmond Howard cleaned up nicely for a Classic Four Sport issue. And I love that two of the three cards Jeff sent me of recent star Aidan Hutchinson are college issues.

Nothing wrong with seeing him as a Lion since he's been a huge part of their turnaround, but you all know where my loyalties lie! And I continue to enjoy seeing past stars like Law, Toomer, and Woodson in more recent products like Mosaic, Prestige, and Select. Hutch, Law, and Toomer all played on teams just a year or two away from national titles but of course GOAT DB Charles Woodson won it all in '97, just like this past season's squad (if I hadn't mentioned it).

Jeff, thanks for such a great envelope to start the year! I have a pretty nice stack of stuff for you and will likely just hold onto it for now because if the likelihood that I'll see you at another show in just over a month.

2023 trade package #5: My Sports Obsession

I went through another period of time where I didn't feel like posting so I didn't force it, but now I'm back this evening with another trade package! This is the last one I received in February that wasn't arranged via TCDb.

As a matter of fact, it was a very cool surprise from Jeff over at My Sports Obsession. My fellow Michigan-collecting buddy has access to some great stuff while working for his card-selling cousin, and I appreciate that Jeff is sharing the wealth! Here's all the cool stuff he sent me this time:

These first couple scans are all 2022 Topps Tigers, but instead of being base they're from the 582 Montgomery set. You have to be a member of Topps' Montgomery Club to get them (as well as to have the opportunity to buy some of their other exclusive products), so I'm not sure if Jeff's cousin got a set to break or if he nabbed a lot of these. Either way, I'm grateful to Jeff for sending them my way so I don't have to track them down!

Next, how about Too Many Verlanders? And some beauties at that! There's a lot of colors and parallels going on here. The Optic card is numbered /299, the GQ is /150, the Bunt is /75, and the Topps Gold is /2020. These will all look excellent alongside the rest of my collection of the brand new Mets SP.

JV got the bulk of the attention but there were plenty of other PCs and Tigers to enjoy. Sunset year Miggy is looking shiny on his UD/Panini trio. A&G pops up a few times in this scan and Cronenworth was one of them. Matthew Boyd may have returned to Detroit but Fulmer moved on from the Twins to the Cubs, staying in the midwest. Grandy's card is one of the best in the package even if it didn't scan well enough to make it clear that it's numbered 01/49 on the front because it's an Aqueous Test parallel. Hooray for card #1 in the run! And Mr. Padre's looking mighty fine on a trio of Topps throwback issues.

Gwynn makes a couple more appearances in this scan with 2019 Topps Gold issues (base and Class 2), and he's joined in that regard by fellow HOFer Barry Larkin. Jeff treated me to another sweet numbered card in the form of Maddux's 2008 Bowman Orange parallel, which is limited to 250 copies. It's still weird to me that Mad Dog suited up for San Diego in 2007 and 2008, going exactly 20-20.

This scan also includes three terrific HOF hits! I think I was the most excited about Sparky's 2005 Fleer Classic Clippings jersey because he doesn't get the volume of hits made that players do. I also love that he's shown with the Tigers since the Reds certainly have a legitimate claim to him. That's not to say that I consider Mr. Tiger's Sweet Spot Classic jersey card from 2007 chopped liver, though! It's a beautiful card of one of the greatest Tigers ever and I'm digging the photo of a young Kaline paired up with a solid swatch. Lastly, we go back to the Maddux well with a die-cut jersey from 2004 Fleer Authentix that looks like it could have just as easily come out of the 90s! (That's obviously a compliment when I describe it like that.) That great looking card appears to be my 16th relic of the HOF pitcher who could probably finish up a game in an hour and a half with the new timer rules.

Basketball and football were the main places the "fellow Michigan collector" part came into play. It's always nice when someone like Jeff sends me these since I obviously don't make much effort to pick them up myself. The first two are of Net-turned-Pacer-turned-Cav Caris LeVert, who was excellent during his career in Ann Arbor. Next is the younger of the two Wagner bros playing for Orlando, Franz, and naturally I like that it's a Michigan card. Finally, Jeff included another surprise hit, in this case a Refractor jersey of former big man Maurice Taylor. I love that it's a Refractor plus it's numbered to 250, and somehow it's just my second hit (also a relic) of the former first-rounder.

We'll end this evening with a cool assortment of football. NCAA champ Griese's UD Graded card is numbered /50 on the front as it's a Gold parallel. It took me quite a while to ID both Prizm parallels of lockdown DB Ty Law but they certainly look great (and would be appropriate to put out around Christmas!). Toomer's card says "Rookie" in big letters up front but this Zenith card is from 1997 so it's a year too late to count as a first-year, which is fine since it's still a need. GOAT DB Charles Woodson looks great on a Blue base from Select Draft Picks since he's pictured during his days of wearing that color plus maize. And lastly, Mike Hart is a PC guy for both Jeff and me, and I was thrilled to see a new one for my collection since I don't see stuff I don't already have come up very often. In this case it's a Stars of the Draft insert from 2008 Upper Deck Draft Edition. It includes a photo of a focused Hart probably rumbling for paydirt since he did that way more than coughing up the ball or losing yards during his amazing college career.

Jeff, thanks again for all of these goodies, I appreciate it! I'm looking forward to hitting you back with some interesting stuff soon, and until then I hope you and your cousin have some very productive shows, including this weekend in Shipshewana!

2020 trade package #30: Wes Moore

A few weeks ago Wes, a.k.a. the Pancake King, held a very cool event on Twitter that he called his Tradeathon. He listed some 160 cards from the major sports and even non-sport stuff, one card at a time. There were HOF RCs, vintage, autos and relics, and even printing plates, plus some cool inserts. You know, basically the stuff he's been known to lob your way in his signature trade war packages.

The rules were simple and few: claim up to five cards, be the first to claim what you wanted, and send him stuff in return but make it a surprise. If that isn't a fun way to get stuff into other collectors' hands while getting cool stuff back, I don't know what is. Judging by tweets from Wes and those that were involved I'd say it was a huge success all around. For my part I flipped him a Leaf auto of wrestler Godfather plus some various Arizona Cardinals and Bama guys.

And now I get to show off what I got back from the flapjack flipper. I somewhat cautiously chose three cards fairly early to keep my options open later, and those were the three I finished with while avoiding being greedy and claiming nicer stuff I already had, such as RCs of Trammell/Molitor and Griffey Jr. I was glad to get what I was hoping for, and Wes was even nice enough to toss a couple extras in the mailer.

Here's what I got:

A little bit of theme going on there, eh? The top two cards here were the "throw-ins" and quite nice ones at that! On the left is a 2005 Elite RC of former stud DB Marlin Jackson, definitely one of the more desired brands for collectors like me that like to chase college cards. To the right is a Blue 2012 Leaf Draft auto of Mike Martin, a DL who was nearly unstoppable and a bright spot on defense during some of Michigan's down years earlier this decade. In typical Wes fashion, even the extras are generous!

As for the rest, I'll go in order as I chose them as opposed to scan order. First up was the horizontal Harbaugh, a Row 0 card from 1998 Flair Showcase. I've long admired the various Showcase iterations and their cool variations. In general I believe Row 0 was the rarest of the regular set, as opposed to 1 and 2. This one is numbered /100 and has a couple nice action photos up front.

Next is a card that interested me because of the guy pictured on the bottom, although his QB counterpart is certainly no slouch. Ordinarily I'd be sending a Steve McNair card over the border, but this 2004 Playoff Honors Class Reunion dual jersey is staying with me because of HOF DB Ty Law and that lovely blue Patriots swatch. Numbered /150 it's just my sixth hit of Law as I continue my quest for an auto of his. By the way, for those interested, McNair went third overall in '95 while Ty went 23 picks later. Warren Sapp and Derrick Brooks joined Law as first round HOFers from that class.

Last but not least is a Michigan uni card I was glad to grab as a first hit of a recent alum. QB Shea Patterson had his ups and downs for various reasons, but he was still a big enough name to hit a bunch of pro- and college-themed products (despite a total lack of a draft pedigree), in this case Leaf Metal Draft. It may be heavily airbrushed but it's still a solid new autograph for my collection, and of course I'll have to work on adding more of those. If there was a card tailor made for me to choose in a tradeathon like this, meaning it was something I'd want but probably not want to buy, this was it. Plus it's a good example of some of the variety that was available in the football grouping alone.

And how about some backs since I only had to scan five cards today?

Wes, thanks again for the cool event, an idea I may have to steal (in homage to you, of course!) and the great cards I ended up with. I hope your returns continue to pour in with all kinds of crazy stuff you'll enjoy. Though I'm not sure if or when we'll trade again, I'll definitely be on the lookout for cards for you in the spirit of your cardboard generosity.

12/7/19 card show report: Christmas shopping

As I sit here awaiting the results of the MLB Veterans Committee vote, which could right a few wrongs including Lou Whitaker still waiting to hear his name called, I figured it would be a good time to show off my latest show haul.

I headed out to Taylor as usual yesterday hoping to find a bit more content for some upcoming Christmas card packages (more on those soon!) and did pretty reasonably well for $50:

• 125 quarter cards @ 5/$1 = $25
• 18 dollar cards @ 6/$5 = $15
• 6 $2 cards @ 3/$5 = $10

All most everything I got for myself came from the quarter boxes, though a few dollar cards ended up in my pile too.  Here's what I landed this time:

Baseball part one starts with a 2003 Elite base of former Tiger Jeremy Bonderman (#0185/1750) which I grabbed for his collection because I love the design.

Then you can see four of five Gwynns I pulled, including a '95 Classic $10 phone card (not sure why I put that first here), a '92 UD insert with comments on players by Ted Williams, his '94 Finest base, and finally, a '96 Donruss Hit List insert (#08117/10000).  Oh hey, "90s inserts rule" tag, it's great to see you!  Naturally Mr. Padre is #1 in that set, and this would have been a fun pull back in the day.

Then we get to a quartet of Ripkens.  He also got in on the phone card action, plus he appears on base cards from 2000 Upper Deck Ovation (not sure how I didn't have that one) and 2003 Fleer Rookies & Greats.  But my favorite pickup of the day came from the $1 box:  a 1996 Sportflix ProMotion insert.  I remember busting lots of packs of the product around that year hoping for any of the cool inserts while enjoying the base set, and while I didn't have any luck back then, now I can pick them up at my convenience.

If that's not worth an animated .gif, I don't know what is!  I did laugh when I saw that Cal turns into a glove, though.

Gwynn and Ripken made one more appearance on a horizontal card each, but first I need to mention my lone Griffey score of the day, a '94 Upper Deck Electric Diamond parallel of one of his base cards in that excellent set.  While that parallel doesn't do much for me, I'm a fan of '94 UD and the leap in design it made over what in my opinion was a pretty meh look in '93, though I expect comments filled with opinions that state otherwise.  Anyway, UD did a great job with photography and holographic foil, and this was easily worth a quarter to me.

As for the other two guys, Gwynn stars on a '93 UD insert called "On Deck With" that includes a nice close-up photo and quick answers to some interview questions on the back.  Meanwhile, Cal's last cameo looks like a TV appearance thanks to the design of a '97 Collector's Choice Exchange card, the result of a winner being sent in.  That and the ones above get him up to 939 items and he maintains a commanding lead among my baseball PCs.

I was fortunate to track down six new Michigan Football cards while I was at it.  Former college QB/WR/QB again Devin Gardner is seen flying high on a Gold parallel of his 2015 Topps Field Access rookie (#42/99).  Topps knew CB Ty Law was one of the game's Finest way back in '97 when he was included in the set of the same name, and now 22 years later he's been rightfully elected to the football Hall.  And WR Amani Toomer is looking cool on a 2000 Black Diamond Gold parallel (#0522/1000) that makes me remember how much I liked the product back in the day.

And then I get to end on a fun trio of Charles Woodson cards.  First is a rookie-year insert from 1998 Upper Deck called Define the Game, one that was made not long after Woodson became the first primarily defensive player to win the Heisman.  Next is a 1999 Playoff Prestige SSD Spectrum Blue parallel (#002/500) that set me back a buck, well worth it for a variation of the best color, not to mention one that's numbered.  And last up is Chuck's base card from 2000 Collector's Edge Masters, one that's numbered as well (#1496/2000), albeit in digital fashion instead of foil.  These three give Woodson a total of 312 items, maintaining his lead among football players I collect, though Chad Henne is gaining ground.

An eight card set honoring this year's NFL Hall of Famers.  That group includes a few players I know well, such as Champ Bailey, Tony Gonzalez, and Ed Reed.  So why was this pack relevant to my interests?  Well, the 2019 class also features this guy, whose card Dion was nice enough to send my way for an unwanted auto (naturally):

Former Michigan CB Ty Law.  Law was a very talented DB for the Wolverines in the early/mid 90s that was selected by the Pats at #23 overall in 1995, and he was actually teammates with recent Michigan draftee Maurice Hurst's dad.  His career highlights include Super Bowl rings in 2001 and 2003 (plus 2004, though he barely played due to injury), 53 career picks (seven that went for TDs), and five Pro Bowl selections.  He twice led the league in interceptions and was named to the sport's All-2000s decade second team.

Law was a guy that came up big when it counted, scoring a pick-six against Kurt Warner's Rams in '01 and intercepting five-headed friend of racists/garbage pizza place owner Papa John Peyton Manning three times in the AFC title game.  Stints with the Jets, Chiefs, and Broncos followed before he called it a career after the 2009 season.
