Another Blowout trade:
I do like to highlight the occasions where I manage to make a deal on the Blowout forums because I like it sometimes when I engage in the best part of the hobby instead of throwing money at it. Anyway, someone in the football section had decided to work on the 2011 Topps Super Bowl Legend Die-Cut set--a fairly ambitious project, in reality--and he needed one of the cards I still had remaining in-hand, Jim Elway. Swapping that card allowed me to make the following upgrade:
At least, I considered Elway to Montana an upgrade. Incidentally, I threw it in my football trade bait album since the former Notre Dame star doesn't exactly have a place in my PC. If any of you has some interest, make me an offer as I'll be happy to upgrade it with something even more useful for my PC!
A blaster! (Wait, you bought a blaster?):
Only my second retail purchase of the year, I couldn't pass up this offer while grabbing a few last-minute, pre-Memorial day things at Meijer:
That's six packs of 2008 UD Masterpieces for $6, a deal I'll take any day of the week, despite the fact that I already have the complete base set. You just can't go wrong with a set that looks this artistic!
Besides the usual assortment of base cards (all available, except a Brady, so shoot me wantlists if you have them), I pulled a couple nice surprises:
The T.O. is the Green Border insert and is #d 69/75. The Stewart is the standard Captured on Canvas jersey relic, and was a nice bonus out of a $6 blaster for sure. Both of these are available for trade along with the Montana, so if you see something you like, please let me know!

A Masterpiece of a deal
Last week Kevin, a.k.a. the Football Card Fool, mentioned that he was trying to dump some 2008 UD Masterpieces football cards. I shot him a message right away checking on the remainder of my own wantlist which was still lingering after my own break. I was thrilled to find out that he indeed had the remaining 11 to close the book on this set, and he gave me a nice deal on them. Since this is obviously such a beautiful set, I now present to you those 11 cards:
Dick Butkus, Jamaal Charles RC, Chokey McChokesalot, James Hardy RC, Ray Rice RC, Steve Slaton RC, HOW-ard Co-SELL, Terrell Owens
Joe Namath, Billy Sims, Vince Lombardi
See, if I put my mind to it I can finish sets. Thanks again to Kevin for finishing this set for me and giving me a nice deal--make sure to check out his blog and trade with the guy.

Yet another contest
So, as promised waaaaaaay back in this post, I got a few doubles and some Black Framed inserts from my blasters of 2008 UD Masterpieces football. A reminder of what the base and inserts look like:
I have 30 different doubles and those five Black inserts all available as the grand prize for a contest I will describe below. First, though, the loot includes the following players (and more): Brett Favre, Doug Flutie, Joe Flacco RC, Chris Johnson RC, Jim Thorpe, John Elway, Eddie Royal RC, Matt Forte RC, Randy Moss and Walter Payton (see the review linked above for a comprehensive look at doubles pulled).
The contest? Predict how many total points will be scored by Tennessee and Jacksonville in their Monday Night Football game. I'll take all predictions before the 8:30 EST kickoff (limit one per person). However, you can get a second bonus entry by linking to this contest on your blog and sending me a notice that you did it, either in the comments or via email.
I'll then put all the correct entries, if any (as well as bonus entries for people who choose that route) into a randomizer and pull a winner, who will win everything listed above (again, not including the three white SPs in the second image).
Sound good? Have at it, everyone--these are some sweet-ass-looking cards, and the package includes some pretty nice RCs. All it takes is a few seconds to guess, so COME ON!
