2022 eBay purchase: Henne given Sunday

I'm sure I've used that punny title before but it certainly fits today given the day of the week and the subject of the three cards you'll get to see!

So my most recent eBay purchase also happens to be the first time all year that I've picked up anything there for myself (as of this writing; I'm watching something interesting ending today) as my other seven wins were for cards for two other traders. The seller is a guy who's listed a lot of Michigan stuff in the past and I happened to be looking for Chad Henne stuff outside of my usual "printing plates $10 and under" saved search.

He ended up having three different printing plates that I was able to grab for $9.50 BINs so after tax (shipping was free) I paid just a hair over $10 per plate, right in my wheelhouse.

Here's a quick look at the three:

#1 is the yellow plate from 2013 Topps Mini. I believe 2013 was the year Topps brought that product to football after it was available in baseball form the previous year. As the set name suggests the plate is smaller just like the base card. 2012 was Chad's first season in Jacksonville after spending his first four with the team that drafted him, Miami, meaning he didn't have to move terribly far. This is my third 2013 plate of his and I also have the black version from that year's flagship product.
Second up is the black plate from 2014 Panini Contenders. I wouldn't say I like that year's design as much as most of the others from that ticket-themed product, but it still looks pretty cool, especially with the jaguar roaring in the background. On the back you can see the note that this is the plate for the Season Ticket version, which is just what the base card is, while the other parallels get progressively rarer: Playoff /199, Championship /99, Silver /2, Super Bowl /1. This is one of six 2014 plates I now own of Henne but my first from this product.
And finally today we have the item that's the most exciting addition for me, which would be the 2014 Prestige Magenta Plate. Why, you might ask? Because I had previously added the Cyan and Yellow versions, giving me 3/4 of the plates! I'm not sure if the Black plate has been sold anywhere online recently so who knows if I'll be able to track it down, but even owning three of the four is pretty cool. This is another product with a base design I'm not wild about compared to others in its history, but this base card also includes a roaring jaguar in the background, which you don't get to see here since the color magenta isn't involved.

These three plates give me 141 hits of the former UM QB, technically giving him a one card lead over baseball leader Rich Hill, though that's due to some unidentified 1/1s of his own. Still, that's an awesome number for probably my favorite football PC guy who now has 11 1/1s to his name (still paltry compared to Hill's 26+!). Clayton Richard and J.J. Putz from my baseball PCs are the only two other guys for whom I have double-digit plates, so I'm glad to have Chad join the club.

To celebrate, here's Henne showing off the heroics he was known for in Ann Arbor on an even bigger stage in the 2021 AFC Divisional round. With star KC QB Patrick Mahomes out with a concussion and the Chiefs needing to protect their tiny lead, Henne made two huge plays to run out the clock despite facing 3rd & 14 after the two minute warning. The first was a crazy 13-yard scramble and the second was a ballsy Andy Reid 4th & 1 pass that allowed KC to run out the clock!
I'll be back soon with the oft-promised TCDB trade recaps!
